Hey Funkin' Crew,
I wanted to pitch an engine feature idea that could completely change how Friday Night Funkin’ handles community content, especially now that the game is officially expanding on mobile (iOS/Android) via the Polymod engine.
Right now, the FNF mod scene is scattered, and mobile players are forced to use incredibly sketchy, ad-ridden third-party "mod farm" websites or download risky APKs just to play community weeks like Vs Tricky or Whitty. This takes support away from the original creators and puts users at risk.
The Idea: An Official, In-Game "Featured Mod" Hub
Weekly Rotating Feature: Every week, a massive community mod is officially featured right on the main menu. Players can instantly stream/preview the tracks or play them in a temporary cache without manual installations.
The "Keep It" Permanent Download: If a player loves the featured mod, there is a built-in "Download Week" button. The game automatically saves the assets directly into their local files, unlocking it as a permanent new week in Story Mode or a dedicated slot in the Freeplay archive.
Storage Management: Players can easily delete downloaded mods from inside the app whenever they need to clear up storage space, knowing they can safely redownload them later from the official archive.
Why This Benefits the FNF Ecosystem:
Kills the Shady Mod Farms: By providing a safe, 100% official, and seamless way to play mods inside the verified game app, sketchy third-party clone websites lose all their traffic.
Supports Mod Creators: It opens up a direct pipeline for the Funkin' Crew to partner with legendary mod teams, ensuring the original creators get proper credit (and potentially a split of traffic/support) rather than random re-uploaders.
Perfect for Mobile: It completely removes the friction of file managers, zip extracts, and broken ports on iOS and Android.
Building a curated, built-in mod portal would turn the official FNF base game into the ultimate, self-sustaining rhythm game hub. Thanks for reading and for all the insane work on the game!
