Git Workbench v1.4.0 makes Git history easier to explore and gives you a persistent place to practice Git workflows.

Highlights

  • History time machine: replay a branch’s commits in order, watch the graph grow, and inspect the files and diffs at each point in history.
  • Commit archaeology: follow a file across revisions, inspect line authorship and commit details, search its history, and open the relevant diff.
  • Git Playground: continue guided, hands-on Git lessons in a dedicated workspace that keeps your practice separate from real repositories.
  • Subtle milestone feedback: optional, brief celebrations after completing a rebase or resolving the last conflict. You can turn them off in Preferences; reduced-motion settings are respected.

Downloads

  • Linux x64: AppImage, Debian/Ubuntu .deb, Fedora/RHEL .rpm, and Arch .pkg.tar.zst
  • Windows x64: NSIS .exe installer
  • macOS universal: .dmg and .zip (unsigned and not notarized; install manually)

Git must be installed and available on your system. Linux and Windows packages include matching updater metadata. macOS updates remain manual downloads from this release page.
