Added
Google Photos background-quality settings: Automatic, 1080p, 1440p, 4K (3840×2160), and 8K (7680×4320).
An 8K resolution request option for stock background photos, subject to source availability.
A Backgrounds image-quality and screen-fit readout that reports the decoded image dimensions on the viewing browser.
A Check displayed photo action and a clear warning when the background must be upscaled to fill the display.
Automatic Google Photos size selection based on browser viewport dimensions and device pixel ratio.
Fixed
Removed the prior fixed 1920×1080 Google Photos request that could deliver unnecessarily low-resolution images to 4K/8K displays.
Raised the remote background-image-only proxy response allowance from the ordinary 25 MiB limit to 128 MiB by default, preventing large high-detail photos from being rejected solely due to size.
Added a separate, bounded background-image proxy limit (DASHBOARD_MAX_BACKGROUND_IMAGE_BYTES), configurable up to 256 MiB.
Kept large-image proxy cache handling separate from ordinary data feeds and restricted the higher-capacity path to image MIME types.
Docker and TrueNAS SCALE
Verified that local/NAS media photos are transmitted over LibreDisplay's HTTP media endpoint without resizing, recompression, or byte changes.
Verified full 3840×2160 and 7680×4320 image delivery, including byte-range responses.
Documented mounting the NAS photo dataset into the container and selecting the container's /media path, rather than a TrueNAS host /mnt/... path.
Documented the local media per-file allowance (100 MiB by default, configurable using DASHBOARD_MAX_MEDIA_FILE_BYTES).
Clarified that the browser attached to the actual display must be configured for the intended 4K/8K output; image pixels alone cannot override the display's rendering resolution.
Background Presentation and Compatibility
Preserved Cover/Contain fit modes, background position, rotation, and blur customization.
Kept existing saved background settings intact; higher-resolution requests remain selectable rather than forced for everyone.
