Allow the integer keyword argument to be a nested structure

Currently when adding a new variable that's a struct, the integer kwarg can be either true or false without offering a finer level of granularity to specify some fields should be integer and others not. This is a fixable issue but the choice was made back then to simplify the design a little. I think it's time to reconsider.
