Kaiser 1.0.2
Fixed
- Remastered on Windows: a black block instead of the unit card in the troop dialog when the mouse is not over a unit.
- When a new round starts, the main window greys out behind the reports, as in the original (Classic and Remastered; the map used to stay).
Installing: see the README. The install commands avoid the macOS / Windows malware-check refusals for this unsigned game:
- macOS:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LarsGehrmann/Kaiser-decompile/main/install-mac.sh | bash - Windows (PowerShell):
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LarsGehrmann/Kaiser-decompile/main/install-windows.ps1 | iex
Kaiser 1.0.1
Easier installing: the game is not signed by a registered Apple / Microsoft developer, so a zip downloaded in the browser gets blocked (macOS may refuse to open it at all). Install with one command instead; downloads made this way are not flagged:
- macOS (Terminal):
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LarsGehrmann/Kaiser-decompile/main/install-mac.sh | bash(Classic:... | bash -s classic) - Windows (PowerShell):
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LarsGehrmann/Kaiser-decompile/main/install-windows.ps1 | iex(Classic: run$env:KAISER_EDITION = 'Classic'first)
Fixed
- Remastered on Windows: black squares instead of the pictures in dialogs (troop grids, portraits, unit card, icons).
The zips below work as before (see the README for opening them despite the warning). Classic is unchanged apart from the version number.

- Remastered: freely resizable window, upscaled graphics, scaled dialogs and fonts, an in-game help window, crashes and clear bugs of the original fixed; same rules, savegames compatible.
- Classic: behaves exactly like the original, checked against it by differential tests.
Installing
- macOS: unzip, move the app to Applications. The app is not notarized: on the first start open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Intel Macs are not supported yet.
- Windows: unzip the whole folder and start
Kaiser Remastered.exe(keep theKaiseranddocsfolders next to it). If SmartScreen warns: More info → Run anyway.
Known limitations
- The Windows builds are cross-compiled on macOS and have not been tested on a real Windows machine yet. Please open an issue if something goes wrong.
- The e-mail game of the original is not ported.
- The game is in German.
Kaiser is © Stefan Maday. The downloads include the original game's kaiser.exe and kaiser.mid, which the port reads its graphics, dialogs and music from.
