• July 31 is the deadline for submitting the first draft of our project.
• Goldstein & Rossiter: Guidelines for inclusive broader impacts. How existing guidelines can be modified based on existing research to reframe the framework and include new questions and bullet points that could be incorporated in the Wizard.
• Singh & Bankston: ....implemented at other places. Engaging scientists in the policymaking process (started as a pandemic project). Advocating for academic institutions to embrace a science-policy curriculum. They are starting with a toolkit. Right now they are identifying gaps. They want to build a community of trainers that can move the project along. The primary audience would-be graduate students.
• Ciccone & Stanley: Media literacy curriculum (fairly dated). How to create materials for classrooms about media literacy. The feedback they got was that the relationship to broader impacts was not clear. They are trying to take a step back to provide guidance about partnering with education communities. How to create a pathway to disseminate research outcomes through education.
• Lettero & Gorman: Engaging humanity scholars in research projects. Create one webinar and several conversation guides. Also engaging with multiple potential audiences while the project develops. Working on narrowing down the audience.
• Van Schyndel: How to involve humanity scholars, artists, and designers in large NSF grants. Inspired by this work: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41599-021-00789-8
