Installation

1. Stop the server and make a backup, as before any server update.
2. Replace your server.jar (or paper.jar) with the PaperStream jar for your Minecraft version.
3. Start the server.

On the first start PaperStream writes paperstream.yml next to server.properties. Your Paper, Spigot and Bukkit configs stay as they are.

If the server does not start and the log shows UnsupportedClassVersionError, the Java version is too old.

First steps

• Small server with 2 to 4 cores? Run /paperstream profile performance, see Profiles.
• Coming from Paper? Run /paperstream migrate once, see Migrating from Paper.
• After the start, PaperStream prints a short plugin check. It lists plugins that failed to start and plugins that do the same job as a PaperStream feature.

Going back to Paper

Stop the server and put the Paper jar back. Region files written by PaperStream use LZ4 compression, which Paper and vanilla read as well. paperstream.yml is simply ignored by Paper.
