Is there any documentation as to how to setup and use the webshop feature?

What I would like to setup is a shop for downloading images, where users can select a few pictures and then pay for the downloads. This could be manual or more automated through PayPal.

I've enabled webshop in the settings and added products. What I don't see is how users select prints for paid download. I've found the list of products and a list of pending actions. Just not sure what triggered them. :)

Prints are not supported yet (sadly).
And yes documentation is very lacking in that field.

Once webshop is activated, you have the menu in the album which allows to you customize sizes & prices.
You will need to set the env variables for paypal in your .env file docker-compose.yaml etc.

When a user mouse over an image, they should see the small basket on which they can click to select their size/price.
Once selected, they will find in the top right a basket with all their orders, then the flow is pretty straight forward.

As an admin you have access to the order page in the left menu. That pages shows you the pending & completed order.
You can click on an order to full fill them or mark them as complete etc.
I do agree I need to make a proper tutorial & explanation to show how this works, I did try to make it as intuitive as possible.

At moment I have not setup PayPal in env.

There is no basket when I cursor over pic. The is only arrow and I in top right of user screen. This is for a user who has not logged in
and me as admin.

You see that the order is created, as it is an offline (without paypal etc) order, the mark as paid is available for you to track what has been paid.

If you click on Mark as paid:

In this specific case because the item is an "original" the url is directly fullfilled by the server.

There is a small ? which gives you the control flows:

If you click on the mail address it will open your mail client with the email pre-filled.

If you click on the transaction Id it will redirect you to the transaction:

You can set the url of the item (e.g. a zip file or something):

In the case of an auto-fullfilled order, you will have the option to edit the link:

This link you can send it to your client:

And they will be able to open it and get the items:

Have found the image basket, it is in top right of thumbnail when cursor is near top of thumbnail. Hance why I did not see it.

There is no basket when viewing image.

Once an image is selected then users basket appears.

The screen prints make it much clearer.

Based on @ildyria's answer, I would separate two things here:

1. The webshop/order flow.
2. Automatic paid digital downloads.

It sounds like the webshop flow exists, but the paid-download use case may not be the same thing as "sell downloadable files immediately after payment". If your goal is automatic paid downloads, that may not be supported yet, or may need a manual fulfillment step from the admin order page.

For the missing basket icon, I would check this in order:

1. PayPal/env configuration is present and the container/app was restarted after adding it.
2. Webshop is enabled globally.
3. The album itself has sizes/prices configured from the album menu, not only generic products created elsewhere.
4. The album/photo is visible to the test user as a normal public/visitor user.
5. The test photo has at least one purchasable option attached.

If PayPal is not configured yet, I would not expect the full checkout path to work. It would be useful to test after adding the PayPal env variables first, then check whether the basket appears on hover for a public album with a configured size/price.

So the likely next step is: configure PayPal, restart, configure prices on the specific album, then test in a private/incognito browser as a non-admin visitor.

@yudin-s there are already options in that direction in the configuration:

But @gazza95 is right that it is missing an "add to basket" button on the photo page, it is only visible on the album view.
That needs fixing.

So I'm making progress and have setup up directory trees and am able to add download pricing.

The next issue is the how to fulfil the orders. What I had hoped was that "auto fulfilling" would add a download url automatically, based on the uniques file-id held in the database.

Manual fulfilment would be where I edit in the download url from a separate system.

The issue I have is that only "Title" appears in the order and thus I can't always find the image as the file name may appear in multiple galleries. Also title currently does not always hold file name. Ideally the order would include the Album and title along with a thumbnail of the image. Would you normally expect users to customise this area to suit their needs?

Am I correct in thinking you were expecting Title to hold a unique user file name?

Just for my reference this is an example of Title field in my test database. If Title field is empty in image meta data then Lychee adds the filename. I've modified Extractor.php to include original filename with partial directory in Make column of photos table, so original file can be found on external server. Website does not have enough storage for all originals.

That should be the case. Currently the status is set to "offline" you need to mark it as paid (in the previous page).

Very good point, I should be able to rather easily provide a link to the existing image location (album).
