Hi, asking this question under Project 3 (adding Benchmarks and optimization). For the optimization part, when you mention strategies for C/Cython code optimization, are you expecting candidates to propose specific cython improvements to existing .pyx files, or is profiling and identifying bottlenecks enough with cython optimization as an optional stretch goal for a medium project (175 hours)?

Strategies are "how you're going to accomplish a goal" so here you lay out what approaches you'll take. What tools will you need to know or learn (such as profilers). If you already have an idea ( based perhaps on preliminary data or existing benchmarks https://www.mdanalysis.org/benchmarks/ or open issues) then you can also mention that.
