Situation

Title

  • Use this format: Title of work (2-4 word description of situation). Aim for clarity. See this discussion for details.
  • If there are multiple technologies in one "Situation", use the primary technology in the title's brackets. If it's impossible to separate two technologies, create a new "Situation" for the other. For example: In Her, you encounter an AI operating system, a camera gadget, and an AR video game. These are listed as "Her (AI)" and "Her (Augmented reality)" because the camera is not emphasized and enables the operating system. The other two are clearly separate technologies.

Overall description

Brief description:

  • Please give a 1-2 sentence description of the situation machine vision is used in. Remember to put a more detailed description of the technology here, e.g. "Touch screen analysis" in the "Minority Report (Augmented Reality)" Situation.

General attitude towards machine vision:

  • See Sentiment. This is the attitude towards the machine vision as implied by or supported by the work itself, if applicable.

Operator of the machine vision

What characterizes the operator(s) of the machine vision technology in this situation?

Which character(s) operate(s) the machine vision in this situation?

  • Type the name of the characters. Add them if they do not already have nodes in the database.

Operator feels that the machine vision is:

Viewed by machine vision

Is the person(s) being viewed represented as being aware of being viewed?

  • Aware:
  • Unaware:
  • Partially aware: Some people may be aware, or people are aware that there is some machine vision, but not fully aware of the extent.

Who is viewed by the machine vision in this situation?

Which character(s) are viewed by the machine vision in this situation?

  • Type the name of the characters. Add them if they do not already have nodes in the database.

Who owns/developed the technology (referenced in the work)?

This refers to the owner as represented in the work (the fictional world, or the artwork itself), and not what is outside of the work, in the real world. In Pokémon Go, we do not reference Niantic, because Niantic is not referenced in the gameworld. Tag when the work highlights fictional or real-world owners, e.g. Google.
