Format typescript code does not work properly with comment

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open this file
2. Call the format code command.
3. Some comments are not formatted as expected. For example, around line 62 or 149. The indent is wrong.

@osechet thank you for opening this issue. This is a good find and easy to follow recreation steps.

The format code command is dependent on the TypeScript language service. I will send this issue to their repo.

Interesting. (Sorry, I currently don't have time to investigate more)

Input:

   /**
 * Comment
 */
declare namespace ol {
/**
     * Comment
     */
    namespace animation {
    }
}

Result:

/**
* Comment
*/
declare namespace ol {

         * Comment
         */
    namespace animation {
    }
}

This is working as intended. the formatter does not format comments. it will try to keep the relative indentation between lines in comments, to ensure that they move as a block.

the first block is moved all tot he left a by 4 spaces, The formatter attempts to move the second and third lines by 4 as well, but since they are at column 1, they only get moved by 1.

What we need is JSDoc formatting support, which is a feature that is not supported today.

I know this is a closed thread. However in case if anyone still facing the same issue as I had, this is for them.

To start with, I am a very beginner in TS, NodeJS and to be frank not very experienced user of VSCode as well. I am working on NodeJS and recently thought to rewrite my all JS to TS. The code formatting was working fine for me every time, but 2 days back it just stopped. And believe me, I was doing a lot of code changes in many files and literally couldn't track back which might have caused the break.

Today I opened the developer console, cleared it first and pressed Alt+Shift+F and viola! it showed me this error:

Root issue:
I had put that entry of "types" in package.json and later I had commented out. That comment in the package.json was causing this issue in formatting. The moment I removed that line, all started working fine!!!

Thank you so much Microsoft for coming up with such a great editor and opened it up free!! I would say this is one of your best tool (after the obvious Excel for sure!)!!!! Three cheers to the VSCode team....
