Before opening a GitHub Issue, please read the information below.

When To Open A Discussion

Use Discussions for:

• Questions
• Setup help
• Configuration advice
• Feature ideas
• General feedback
• Sharing experiences
• Cover and hardware compatibility questions

When To Open An Issue

Use Issues for:

• Reproducible bugs
• Unexpected behaviour
• Errors in logs
• Installation problems
• Regression reports

Information To Include

When reporting a problem, please provide as much information as possible.

Environment

• SmartShading version
• Home Assistant version
• Installation method (HACS / Manual)
• Home Assistant installation type or operating system

Shading Setup

• Cover type, such as roller shutter, Venetian blind, exterior screen or awning
• Number of zones and windows
• Cover integration or hardware
• Presence detection setup
• Configured weather, solar radiation, wind or temperature sensors
• Whether Observation Mode and Active Control are enabled

Problem Details

Please describe:

• What SmartShading did
• What you expected it to do
• Which zone and window were affected
• Whether the recommendation was correct
• Whether the physical cover followed the recommendation
• Whether a manual override was active
• Whether the problem can be reproduced

Logs

Relevant SmartShading log entries are extremely helpful.

Please include:

• Error messages
• Warnings
• Tracebacks, if available

Please remove private information before sharing logs or exports.

Diagnostics And Exports

When relevant, include:

• Home Assistant diagnostics for SmartShading
• SmartShading Support Export
• SmartShading Research Export, when the issue concerns learning behaviour

Review exported files before publishing them.

Screenshots

Screenshots often help identify configuration issues quickly.

Useful screenshots include:

• SmartShading zone and window entities
• Window configuration
• Recommendation and shading-state sensors
• Relevant sensor values
• Manual solar-sector or obstruction-zone configuration
• Cover position history

Before Reporting

Please check:

• SmartShading is updated to the latest release
• Home Assistant is updated
• The issue is reproducible
• Existing Issues and Discussions do not already cover the problem
• Active Control is enabled when reporting missing physical cover movement
• The configured cover and relevant sensors are available in Home Assistant
