Import-Vmshardware Issue

Hello,

I have just discovered the use of MilestonePSTools and have been trying to use Import-Vmshardware but I cannot get it to work with DriverGroup. Everytime I put DriverGroup in the CSV file I get "Start-VmshardwareScan : A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'DriverGroup'. At C:\Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\Modules\MilestonePSTools\25.2.16\MilestonePSTools.psm1:2472 char: 79

@Bankai-Sasageyo, would you be willing to share your CSV (obviously removing or replacing any sensitive data like IPs, usernames, passwords, etc.)?

Alternatively, if you already have at least one camera added to your system, do an Export-VmsHardware and see what that looks like. It might point you in the right direction.

As a note, I tried this on my system with MilestonePSTools version 25.2.16 (same as yours) and it worked.

I believe I had some formatting issues. I can get it to work with using correct DriverNumber. Is it possible to Import without a DriverNumber and just a DriverGroup? So that it can scan all Axis drivers similar to the autodectect through management client. So if it is a new camera I don't have to search the drivernumbers.

Yeah, you can definitely just supply the DriverGroup. For example, if you just put "Axis" as the DriverGroup, it would be the same as doing this in the Management Client:

You can also add multiple DriverGroups. They just get separated by a semi-colon. For example, if all of your cameras were Axis and Hanwha, you could put "Axis;Hanwha" as the DriverGroup.

Yes that is how I tried to do it originally but I always got that error. Maybe it is a syntax issue on my end. Here is the template I tried. Anytime there is not a driver number I get an error.

@joshooaj, can you take a look at this?

Either I'm doing something wrong as well or there is a bug. Our documentation says you can provide the DriverGroup instead of the DriverNumber so I think this should be working. I'm running 25.2.16 and if I do an import hardware with a DriverGroup but no DriverNumber but leaving everything else that is exported with Export-VmsHardware, and it throws this error.

I had tried it earlier and thought it worked but, thinking back, I think I tried it on a camera that was already in the system. The process it goes through before it fails seems odd too, but maybe it is normal. It will do an Express scan and run that for 20-30 seconds or so and then it fails with the error.

Right after the error, it displays this:

I guess I'm surprised that it takes 20-30 seconds to throw an error about the DriverGroup. Is it normal for it to do an Express scan when it is provided all of the information it needs?

Looks like the Import-VmsHardware command incorrectly runs Start-VmsHardwareScan with a parameter named DriverGroup when the Start-VmsHardwareScan command expects DriverFamily. I just tested a change to ImportHardwareCsv.ps1 (which ends up at line 2454 in the "compiled" MilestonePSTools.psm1 file). I'll check a few things and push an update out today.
