New validator release, 1,400+ new feeds, and licensing updates
We've been working behind the scenes on a bunch of new features. Here's the roundup:
Richer, more comprehensive GTFS data
The 8.0 release of the Official GTFS Schedule Validator is now live and running on the Mobility Database! Now we can track early producers of new GTFS features:
Contactless EMV Support - 10 transit authorities are now flagging tap-to-pay support for riders thanks to first adopters 🇨🇦 Toronto Transit Commission and Transit:
🇵🇹 Carris Metropolitana | 🇵🇹 Metro de Lisboa | 🇨🇦 Miway | 🇺🇸 PVTA | 🇺🇸 SEPTA | 🇺🇸 RGRTA | 🇺🇸 Community Transit (WA) | 🇺🇸 OCTA | 🇺🇸 Trinity Metro | 🇺🇸 Fort Worth
Stop Access - 5 transit authorities are improving routing between stations and street-level stops thanks to first adopters 🇯🇵 ODPT and Google:
🇫🇷 Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) | 🇫🇷 SNCF | 🇫🇷 Trains régionaux ZOU ! | 🇺🇸 PVTA | 🇯🇵 Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation - Toei Bus
Cars Allowed - 3 transit authorities are specifying when vehicles accommodate cars onboard thanks to first adopters 🇫🇮 Fintraffic and Transitous:
🇵🇹 Carris Metropolitana | 🇫🇷 Brittany Ferries | 🇫🇷 Corsica Line
Data partnerships
Japan - We partnered with the Japan Association for Bus Digitalization to automatically sync with their GTFS Data Repository portal, which provides up-to-date GTFS and GTFS Realtime data for bus systems across Japan. There are now over 600 Japanese feeds on the Mobility Database.
France - We partnered with Transport Data Gouv, the national access point for transit data in France, to sync with their GTFS and GTFS Realtime data. There are now over 800 French feeds on the Mobility Database that are automatically updated.
Skip license legal jargon
Finding and understanding the terms of data licenses can be a headache for consumers. Now on the Mobility Database, we've added a search filter for common standard licenses, so you can see which feeds use them, and then read the conditions of the license in plain language to assess if the data is available for commercial use.
We're working on expanding this filter to include custom licenses. If you're a data consumer using this feature, please reach out to let us know if it's helping you with data discovery.
Easier dataset cross-referencing
We've added an MD5 hash alongside our SHA256 hash to make dataset cross-referencing easier for consumers who already have GTFS data in their pipeline.
