Windows support
hedit now ships a portable Windows x86-64 ZIP alongside the Linux x86-64/ARM64 packages and universal macOS app.
- Native Windows build commands, merged build output, and process-tree cancellation.
- Windows system font discovery and compiler error links with drive letters.
- Native Windows CI tests, release builds, and verification of the extracted executable.
On Windows 10 or newer, verify the ZIP with its matching .sha256 file, extract it, and run hedit.exe. No installer or administrator access is needed. Upgrade by closing hedit and extracting the newer package; settings and recovery stay in your Windows profile.
Windows packages are unsigned, and hands-on GUI validation remains pending. CUDA editing works on Windows; local CUDA tools and in-app updates remain Linux-only.
See the Windows installation guide.
