Unit test inspired by #1279 (thanks @julianwachholz)
This fixes a bug left behind by #625 where the initial implementation required to set the
get_<field>_displaymethods on the class and not the instance (because of__slots__). However, the PR later took a different approach and never corrected this issue.@lafrech @julianwachholz take a look please.
