RustCraft

RustCraft is a self-hosted webshop: a customer storefront and an admin dashboard, shipped as one Docker Compose stack with automatic HTTPS, automatic backups and one-click updates from the admin.

Getting started

  1. Installation — put the shop on your own server (about 30 minutes), or Installation with Podman
  2. First Steps — shop name, legal texts, email, payment providers, admin users
  3. Backups — switch on automatic backups to GitHub (5 minutes, do it right away)

Running the shop

  • Admin Overview — the sections and tabs of the admin, reviews, newsletter and withdrawals
  • Updates — install new releases from the admin
  • Release Channels — stable for live shops, beta to test new features early
  • Domains — change the shop or admin address later
  • Restoring a Backup — after a server crash, a move to a new server, or to go back to an earlier state
  • Own Reverse Proxy — use nginx, Apache, Caddy or Traefik instead of the built-in HTTPS proxy
  • Troubleshooting — when something does not work
  • Security — what to keep private and how the updater works

What you need

  • A Linux server (Ubuntu 22.04/24.04 or Debian 12) with 2 GB RAM
  • Two (sub)domains, e.g. shop.example.com and admin.example.com
  • No programming knowledge — every step is copy and paste
