As in real live the moon orbit is more than 25 degrees inclined to the Earth's equator. If you launch directly to an equatorial orbit you need to spend vast amounts of delta v to reach the moon.

The 'trick' is to start already inclined, but for that you have to wait until your launch site is directly below the moon trajectory. This can be done in the map view, or by setting an satellite in orbit with 0 relative inclanation to the moon orbit. Then you start only when the satellites trajectory is directly above your launch site.
