Best Practices on local Development

This may be off topic, but are there are any best practices on how to add this package as a local dependency? I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to do this with gradle, and wondering if anyone has any tips.

I ended up adding this dependency, which works fine. Open to better ideas, though.
