🎉 48 hours, 42 releases — and an honest ask about keeping NOOP going

Two days ago, a handful of people posted raw hex dumps from their straps in a GitHub issue. Tonight, WHOOP 4.0 sleep and recovery decode on a firmware that never worked before — built entirely from those dumps. That's the loop that makes NOOP work: you bring the data, it becomes a feature, fast.

This is a thank-you, a progress report, and — honestly — an ask.

What we shipped in the last ~48 hours

• 🛌 WHOOP 4.0 sleep/recovery on "v25" firmware (Sleep Data Not Recorded #30 / WHOOP 4.0 (no subscription): offload completes & trim cursor advances, but no daily history decoded — only live-connection HR lands #122 / History offloads and trim advance overnight, but no HR trend or sleep data is surfaced #126). Some 4.0 straps emit a firmware layout NOOP couldn't read for motion, so sleep/recovery never built. Reverse-engineered from 45 real on-wrist records you captured, and shipped on Mac, Android and iOS.
• 📱 iOS folded into main — NOOP is now a three-platform project (macOS · Android · iOS), all from one source tree. (Build-from-source only; it stays anonymous.)
• 🍺 Homebrew on Mac — brew tap noopapp/noop && brew trust noopapp/noop && brew install --cask noop.
• 🩹 A real data-loss fix (Wore whoop to sleep but did not get sleep data in the app #77 / No sleep data #91) — straps were completing a sync but discarding undecodable history before we archived it. Fixed.
• 💪 Manual workouts on 5/MG get calories/HR/strain back (No calories or heart rate data (and thus no strain) after weightlifting #137); 🧠 a local/offline AI Coach (BYOK, point it at your own LLM, Custom AI provider for Coach to use a local LLM #131); 😴 deep-sleep fixes (macOS on-device sleep staging records 0m deep sleep for recent nights #127/No deep sleep on android. whoop MG device #129); journal curation, GPS workouts, an app-freezing perf fix (Fix constant Android ANRs: sleep analysis ran O(n-squared)-ish on the main thread #125), and dozens more.

The honest part — and the ask

There's no company here. No investors, no team, no salary. It's one person, anonymous on purpose, paying for all of it out of pocket — test hardware, time, and the heavy AI dev-tooling that's the entire reason one person can ship 42 releases in 48 hours. That tooling is the single biggest cost, and it runs well into the thousands.

NOOP is, and always will be, free — no paywall, no pro tier, no nag. But "free for you" isn't "free to make," and one unpaid person doing all of this isn't sustainable. If the last 48 hours showed you anything, it's that this works: your reports turn into features in hours. If you want that to keep happening, this is the moment to chip in.
