NovaBird 2.0 – Beta 3

NovaBird 2.0 – Beta 3. Third test version of 2.0. Please back up your Thunderbird profile first and report what you find (issues). Installs over Beta 1 and 2; settings and index are kept.

New since Beta 2

• Helper 0.5.1: the icon starts by itself. With the helper set up as a Windows service, the Start menu entry "NovaBird Helper (Netz)" only said the icon starts with nbhelper.exe --tray. Start menu and a double-click on the installed nbhelper.exe now detect the mode themselves: network mode, or only the icon when the service runs. If it already runs, the web interface opens. Removing the helper stays under Windows "Installed apps".

• The add-ons are unchanged from Beta 2 (same versions and content). Updating the Helper is enough: double-click the new .exe → "replace?" → Yes.

Install

1. Betterbird or Thunderbird ESR 128 or newer (the add-ons use experiment APIs, which do not run in the monthly release).
2. Add-ons manager → gear → Install Add-on From File…, select the .xpi files, restart.
3. Coming from 1.x: install over the old packages. The old NovaBird-Search and the theme add-ons are taken over and removed on the first start; settings, search history, index and theme are kept.
4. The setup assistant opens on the first start. Every step can be skipped. For the Helper see the quick guide.
