OpenNextFrameworks Project

This project intends to build a fully ABI compatible (PPC and Intel) version of several system frameworks and services for Rhapsody OS (last intel release) and Mac OS X Server 1.2v3 (PPC). This is intended to be used for the RhapsodiOS project.

This project is built using NextCodeFoundation, a cross compiler (macOS 27) to Rhapsody OS. NextCodeFoundation produces ProjectBuilder PB.proj files and Make files so they can be compiled on a Rhapsody OS / Mac OS X Server 1.2v3.

ABI, Binary Compatibility

This project aims to also build ABI drop-in-replacements for Rhapsody OS and Mac OS X Server 1.2v3, to that end we have implemented several gates to ensure this.

  • -DDistributionRhapsodyOS
  • -DDistributionRhapsodiOS
  • -DDistributionOpenNext

When these products are built using -DDistributionRhapsodyOS, they produce ABI compatible libraries for Rhapsody OS and Mac OS X Server 1.2v3 (PPC). When built using -DistributionOpenNex or -DDistributionRhapsodiOS, they produce libraries intended for RhapsodiOS.

Many new features are added to these frameworks for Rhapsody OS / Mac OS X Server 1+ in such a way that do not break ABI.
