AppKit build with -DDistributionRhapsodyOS should be binary compatible. For features specific to RhapsodiOS or NextCode, they are gated by -DDistrubitonRhapsodiOS and -DDistrubitonNextCode.

Most new features are gated by -DDistrubitonRhapsodiOS and -DDistrubitonOpenNext.

New Features All

Implemented in such a way that it creates no ABI issues

  • NSWindow live window resize, available under RhapsodyOS, OpenNext/RhapsodiOS. This is going to be able to be turned off on slow systems.
  • NSToolbar (/Classes2/NSToolbar.m)
  • NSDrawer (/Classes2/NSDrawer.m)
  • Document modal model
  • NSView live resize
  • Application Menu (Bold First Menu)
  • MacOSX (Aqua) appearance mode
  • Comprehensive NeXTStep appearance

  • JPEG, ICNS decoding

Figure 2: NSMacOSXInterfaceStyle (AppKit is being built to support NSWindow95, NSMacintosh (i.e MacOS9/Copland), NSNextStep). I am contemplating adding a Substyle so NSMacintosh and NSMacOSX get merged and have sub styles like (NSMacOSX, NSCopland == NSMacOS9, NSMacOS7, NSMacOSX10, NSMacOSFlat, NSMacOSLiquid), NextStep can have NSNextStep4Substyle, NSNextStep.
