First thing is, Do you backup your System? Not just the Sage directory but the entire system. It probably isn't going to be as easy as just running the Sage Installer. Just running the 64 bit Sage Installer will install a second instance of Sage (i.e. you will have both 32 & 64 bit installed) Keep in mind that on Windows 64 OS installs, 32 bit programs are installed in the 'C:\Program Files (x86)' and 64 bit programs are installed to 'C:\Program Files'. You will also need to install 64 bit Java, 64 bit LAV filters (or 64 bit version of the codec/filters you use), and it is suggested to use 64 bit OpenDCT (if you use OpenDCT). There is some discussion of this in the old forum. |

I did what you are considering a while back, and to emphasize what Ugadata mentioned, it installs in the 64 bit "program files" directory. The important thing is to be sure you stop running the older 32 bit version of SageTV and disable the 32 bit service before installing and running the 64 bit version. I also recall a procedure for copying your wiz.bin file into the new SageTV 64 bit directory to retain all your old watched program history. If you have the memory head room, you'll want to increase the java heap in the registry. |

Back it 2017 I rebuilt my Sagetv server. Originally I used the 64 bit version, but I couldn't get my USB UIRT to work with it, and ended up using the 32 bit version of Sagetv to get it to work. Since then, I've stopped using the USB UIRT on my server. My big question is... Can the 32 bit be upgraded to 64 bit just by installing the 64 bit install, or do I have to rebuild it using the required files to retain all the Sagetv information thats on my 32 bit version?
I'm thinking the 32 bit version could also be my slow down in recent years, and I also saw that my java heap is set to 1024 with 12 gig of ram installed
I'm still using windows 7 64 bit OS
Thanks,
Jerry
