This Branch Is Now Out Of Support

Although I had hoped to maintain this branch a little longer,
the volume of AI-generated security advisories has made it impossible to maintain branches other than master.
After this release, no further changes,
including security patches, will be applied to this branch.
You are encouraged to upgrade to the master branch (release 5)
as soon as possible.
