PlaneSlate 1.0.0 - Micro and Mini

Web Installer: https://planeslate.com/installer/

First stable firmware and Web Installer release for PlaneSlate Micro (Waveshare 28514, ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-1.85) and Mini (ESP32-P4-WIFI6-Touch-LCD-3.4C, 800x800).

Features

  • Aircraft details, local radar, daily statistics, route information and Special Aircraft.
  • Airport symbols with independent category selection. Default: enabled, with Large and Medium airports selected.
  • Military classification inherited from matching catalog airlines/operators, retaining existing aircraft-specific categories.
  • Browser installation and USB configuration; no soldering or coding required.
  • First installation accepts readable third-party and factory firmware layouts on the supported hardware. Supported PlaneSlate settings are preserved; first installations receive fresh settings.
  • Mini orientation defaults to 180 degrees during first setup. Existing saved orientation is retained. The control stays under Customize.

This release changes firmware identity/version only from the published Micro 0.9.71 and Mini 0.9.72 functional sources. Mini retains its tested asynchronous Wi-Fi and guarded network startup. Current content remains 1.0.29, distributed separately; upgrading firmware does not require reinstalling existing SD content.

Validation
Both exact release sources pass native regression checks and hardware builds. Web Installer tests cover both products, fresh installations, preserved settings, strict release-image checks and rejection of unsupported/security-protected boards. The owner confirmed the Mini factory-to-PlaneSlate installation; the Mini Wi-Fi source was observed for approximately 16.5 hours before the owner stopped that test. The newly rebuilt 1.0.0 binaries are not automatically flashed onto connected devices.

Known limitations
Flight and route coverage depend on the data providers and installed catalogs. Data is refreshed periodically, normally every 30 seconds; it is not a continuous live feed. Initial network time, SD validation and map loading can delay the first displayed data. Earlier intermittent Wi-Fi issues are not claimed to be eliminated. Chrome or Edge on desktop and a USB data cable are required for browser installation. The Micro enclosure variant with a restricted USB opening requires the appropriate right-angle cable.

PlaneSlate software is free. Hardware is purchased separately. Firmware and airline artwork were developed with AI assistance.
