Business model
Prisma is an open-source project for social good. It's built to improve the lives of vulnerable people with dementia. Because of this social dimension many volunteers want to help to bring the solution to as many people with dementia as possible.
This isn't enough though. Making open-source software for care homes is different from making open-source software for developers. Care homes need a certain level of service to feel comfortable to suggest their clients and personnel to use our service.
In this model, there's a separation between the product team and the service team. The product team is an open-source collective that collaborates here on Github, and that gets reimbursed their costs via Open Collective, the system for transparent open-source accounting.
There's also a core team of developers and customer success people that get fixed wages for their work.
The service team initially consists of a business developer and a customer success representative.
- The business developer sets up partnerships with umbrella organizations of care homes and ambulant care. He or she also creates the first case studies and sales material.
- The customer success person creates the documentation for care homes, and follows up support and sales inquiries.
