Any documentation on how to run these tests?

No, I hadn't finished it yet; in practice, it will be a matter of running gmake tests — or, more specifically, gmake test [program]. I will get it done until day 20, it has been stuck on my fridge for the last year and now it's time to cook it.
I'm also considering a GitHub Action.

New release code added to the 20240220-fix-testsuite branch.
There are also fixes that will be necessary later, but these will go in another.
