v0.6.0
Future Cop: L.A.P.D. (1998) as a native program: the game's own FCopLAPD.exe is recompiled to native code when it starts, and everything it needs from Windows and DirectX is rebuilt in Rust on OpenGL. No game files are included: you need your own copy of the PC version.
New in 0.6.0
Menus by gamepad. D-pad or left stick moves between menu items (a gold frame shows the selected one), A selects, B goes back. Works in dialogs too; A skips videos (#8).
Gamepads without switching. Pads work alongside the keyboard with their own bindings: the new "Gamepad" button in Preferences and the pause bar, saved in gamepad.txt. The old "Controller" button is now "Keyboard". A pad plugged in while the game runs is found too (#8).
Xbox Controller profile as default. Left stick moves and jinks, right stick turns (#9).
Fixed in 0.6.0
Exit hang. Quitting from the main menu could leave the game "not responding" on some systems. It now ends at once (#7).

Getting started
- Unpack the archive.
- Put an image of your CD (
.isoor.bin) next tofcop.exe/fcop, or copy your game into thegame_filesfolder. That can be the CD's contents, an image of the CD, or your installed game folder. - Start
fcop.exeon Windows, or./fcopfrom its folder on Linux. It finds the game, checks that it is the supported version and keeps only what the game needs.
When you update from an earlier version, keep your game_files folder: your settings, key bindings and saves are in it.
What the port adds to the original
- High resolutions, widescreen (Hor+), borderless fullscreen (Alt+Enter)
- Anti-aliasing (MSAA), trilinear and anisotropic texture filtering
- Frame rates from 60 to unlimited, with the game's own logic unchanged
- Up to two gamepads with a modern button layout and analog sticks, menus by gamepad
- Mouse buttons as controls
- Replacement textures (HD textures)
- Sound export as WAV files
- Network play over TCP/IP (Host Game / Join Game, port 47624), also between Windows and Linux
- Effects volume over the whole range, silent at 0
- Arrow keys for player 1, a chase camera close behind the robot
All settings are in the game's own Preferences dialog, which the pause bar opens during a mission too.
