Blocks and patterns

Not finished yet. easyQ Q&A is in early development and not ready for live sites. Try it on a test site only.

easyQ has 46 blocks. You find them in the block inserter under Questions & Answers. On the Q&A pages they show the content of the current page; most of them also have settings in the block sidebar, such as the number of items or what to show.

Pages and lists

Block	What it does
Question List	A list of questions with its own layout. Shows the questions of the current page or a fixed selection.
Question Template	The layout of each question in a question list.
Q&A Pagination	Links to the other pages of a question or answer list.
Q&A No Results	Content shown when a list is empty.
Question Sorting	Links to sort the question list by recent activity, votes, answers and views.
Q&A Page Title	Title of the current Q&A page, e.g. the tag or category.
Q&A Breadcrumbs	Path to the current page: Q&A home, categories, question.
Q&A Notices	Messages after submitting a form and hints for visitors.
Q&A Statistics	Numbers of questions, answers, comments and users.
Q&A Categories	Categories with the number of questions.
Q&A Tags	Popular tags, linked to their questions.
Related Questions	Questions similar to the current question.

A question and its answers

Block	What it does
Question	Shows the question of the current page; the blocks inside show its parts.
Question Title	The title of a question.
Post Content	The content of a question, answer or comment.
Post Excerpt	A short excerpt of a question, answer or comment.
Votes	Vote count with buttons to vote up and down.
Answer Count	Number of answers of a question.
View Count	Number of views of a question.
Post Status	Shows whether a question is closed or an answer is selected, hidden or waiting for approval.
Question Tags	Tags of a question, linked to their pages.
Question Category	Category of a question, linked to its page.
Post Author	Who wrote a post, with avatar and points.
Post Date	When a post was written or last changed.
Post Activity	What happened to a question, when and by whom, e.g. “answered 5 minutes ago by Alex”.
Post Actions	Buttons for the actions the visitor can perform: select, flag, hide, close and more.
Answer List	The answers of a question.
Answer Template	The layout of each answer.
Comment List	The comments on a question or answer.
Comment Template	The layout of each comment.

Forms

Block	What it does
Ask Box	A short field that starts asking a question.
Ask Form	Form to ask a new question.
Answer Form	Form to answer the question.
Comment Form	Form to comment on a question or answer.
Q&A Search	Search field for questions.
Account	Form for visitors to edit their profile fields and avatar.

Users

Block	What it does
User List	A list of users with its own layout: top users by points, newest users or users with special levels.
User Template	The layout of each user in a user list.
User	Shows a user with the blocks inside: the user of the profile page or a chosen user.
User Avatar	The avatar of a user.
User Name	The display name of a user.
User Title	The title of a user, from their level or points.
User Points	The points of a user, optionally with their rank.
User Statistics	Membership, points, posts and votes of a user.
User Profile Fields	The public profile fields of a user, such as their location.
User Navigation	Links to the sections of a user profile: profile, questions, answers and activity.

Patterns

Patterns combine these blocks into ready layouts. Find them in the inserter under Patterns → Questions and answers: Q&A start page, Q&A question page, Q&A user profile, Recent questions (compact) and Top users (compact). See Customizing the Q&A pages.
