ChatDock Beta Build 1.7
New in Beta Build 1.7: Discord like the app
- Share your screen: join a voice channel, press Share Your Screen and pick a window or the entire screen (turn on Share with system audio for the game's sound). It keeps going while ChatDock is hidden, and clicking the sharing bar no longer makes the chat disappear.
- Pop-ups per server: a pop-up says which server and channel a message is from ("Discord · Gamers · #general"), and every server gets its own switch under Settings → Discord (direct and group messages too).
- Voice keys: mute or deafen yourself in Discord from anywhere, even in a game, with keys you pick under Settings → Discord. A small pop-up says how it is now.
- Call icons on the edge tab: while you're in a call a green phone shows under the apps, and a red screen while you share your screen. Click it to go straight back to the call. For Discord calls, and for Messenger and Instagram calls (they open in a call window of their own).
- Calls don't get cut off: app sleep and memory saving leave a chat alone while it's in a call or sharing the screen, even when nobody talks.
- An animated What's new: after an update, this window plays a short demo of each change (the animation above). Settings → Updates → See what's new shows it again.
Lighter
- Next to no CPU or graphics card while hidden. An invisible loading animation kept redrawing ChatDock on every screen refresh (300 times a second on a 300 Hz screen) even while it was out of sight, and so did the loading spinner when the app you used last was asleep. Measured on a 300 Hz laptop with ChatDock hidden: from 2.5–4.4 s of CPU time every 15 seconds down to 0.1 s.
Install
Already have ChatDock? Press Update when the update pop-up comes (or Check for updates in Settings → Updates). From an Electron version (1.4 or older), the installer replaces the old copy by itself and keeps your logins.
New here? Download ChatDock_1.7.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it. The installer isn't code-signed with a Windows certificate, so SmartScreen may warn: choose More info → Run anyway.
Discord pop-ups come from Discord's own desktop notifications: turn them on once in Discord (User Settings → Notifications → Enable Desktop Notifications).
