Why reinvent the wheel?

I'm wondering why you all didn't just describe a blueprint of using an Apple Shortcut that takes in a search string and scans Notes for it and then shell out and call the command line "shortcuts" cli?

1. I hate Shortcuts. I don't find it pleasant to use and find it very cumbersome. I'd rather use a full programming language.
2. This package does much more than search text. It allows you to programmatically create notes, file them, edit them, etc. all from Python, a language that is powerful and easy to use.
3. All my Mac automation flows use Python (I know it well and it's easy to use) so this integrates well with my other workflows.

Fair enough. Shortcuts has its...shortcomings...for sure. I'm also playing with mdfind and the internet is telling me I should be able to find a note like so:

mdfind 'kMDItemContentType == "com.apple.notes.spotlightrecord" && kMDItemTitle == "DoNothing test"c'

For finding a note whose title is "DoNothing test" but it does not work. Probably worked in early Mac os versions. Have you had any success in using mdfind on notes?

I've not used mdfind to try this. See also Apple Notes Parser which provides direct access to the Notes database. This can be faster than using AppleScript as macnotesapp uses. I plan to eventually merge these two projects.
