Platform Rules

Platform rules

Tandem is a tool; you are responsible for following each platform's terms and simulcasting policy. These change, so check the current versions. This page summarizes them as of October 2026 and is not legal advice.

Twitch

  • Affiliates and Partners may simulcast to other services.
  • The stream on Twitch must be of the same or better quality than elsewhere. With a shared encoder every platform gets the same quality, which satisfies this.
  • Don't show clickable links or calls to action that send Twitch viewers to the other platforms during the broadcast.
  • Showing a merged chat from other platforms on stream: Twitch said in early 2026 that it would stop enforcing against this, but its written rules still restricted it in mid-2026. If you're unsure, keep the overlay to Twitch chat (platforms=twitch) or don't show chat on stream.

Kick

  • Non-partners can multistream.
  • Kick partners must turn on the multistreaming option in their creator settings, which changes their payout terms while it's on. Check Kick's current partner program terms before multistreaming.

YouTube

  • YouTube allows simulcasting ("simulstreaming") without a quality-parity rule.
  • Your channel must be verified and live-enabled.
  • Reading chat through the Data API must follow the YouTube API Services Terms of Service; Tandem only reads public chat with your own key.

General

  • Use each platform's own stream key; never share keys.
  • Content rules (music, mature content, gambling) differ per platform. One stream that is fine on one platform can get you in trouble on another.
