SoniqBoom v2.0.1
SoniqBoom 2.0.1
New features
- Online collections and scene information at install: a new install asks whether to add the online collections (Modland, HVSC, Aminet, scene.org) and the scene information (HVSC, Modland, UADE song database, Demozoo); both default to yes (the Modland catalogue needs about 1 GB more memory). A new Docker deployment sets them up on its first start (
SONIQBOOM_COLLECTIONS/SONIQBOOM_SCENE_INFO). An update asks once from a terminal, only about what isn't there yet: a collection already on or already a root folder of the library, and scene information already downloaded, are mentioned and left as is. soniqboom collections add|remove/soniqboom scene-info add|remove: add or remove them one by one at any time, also withdocker exec.
Fixed issues
install.shno longer prints setuptools licence and editable-install warnings.

New features
- New UI: two styles, Modern and Retro hi-fi. The phone page is always Retro hi-fi and opens automatically on phones and iPads.
- Scene view: browse by composer, game, platform, demoparty and scene group. A party's tunes are grouped by competition, in placing order.
- Playlist files: import and export M3U, M3U8 and XSPF.
- Streaming quality: cap music at 320, 192, 128 or 96 kbps per device.
- Search operators: exclusions, several values per operator, exact phrases, and new fields such as length, plays, format family, audio quality, source and status.
- Spectrum analyser visualizer and a large now-playing cover.
- Web folders can be added as network shares.
- MSX music plays with every sound chip (KSS).
- DLNA Media Server (Beta): browse by genre, folder and playlist; retro tunes start at once.
- Find folder in a track's menu; click an artist to search for them.
Improvements
- In Safari, iPhone and iPad, retro tunes start in about a second.
- The waveform fills in while a retro tune renders.
- An online-collection tune you also have in your own folders plays your copy.
- Phone search by field, with filters.
- In narrow windows, less-used buttons move into a ⋯ menu.
- Cleaner sound: AdLib/OPL without aliasing, and loud tracker modules no longer clip.
Fixed issues
- A slow or unresponsive network drive no longer holds up the server.
- Large libraries are ready sooner after a start.
- Adding a long playlist to the queue no longer freezes the page.
- Network-share tracks with a far too short length are corrected.
- Folders inside archives list their tracks.
- Network-share covers fill in reliably.
- A MIDI file whose SoundFont is missing now says so.
- A tune whose stored render was silent is rendered again.

SoniqBoom 1.14.5
New
- Your own listening data per account — history, play counts, smart views and radio Favorites are now per account; ratings stay shared. Playlists are private, and can be shared with everyone; others Import them as live, read-only copies. Existing data goes to the oldest admin on upgrade.
- Versioned database with automatic backup — on upgrade, the old files are copied to
backups/in the data folder before conversion; a database from a newer release is refused. The version is shown under System → About. - Search across the whole result set — exact totals, paging and sorting over every match, and a Best match order (whole words first).
- Tracks that can't be played — new setting to mark or hide broken, corrupt and unplayable tracks.
- HVSC from the internet — SID song lengths and STIL can be downloaded from the 6581.nl mirror and checked weekly, instead of pointing at a local folder.
- Repair Garbled Metadata now also fixes placeholder titles such as
<unnamed>, and reports what it found.
Fixes
- Tracker modules with a placeholder song name show their file name.
- Playing a SID clears a stale can't play mark.
- Deleting an account now removes its history, Favorites and playlists.
- Read-only accounts can manage their own Favorites and playlists.
- Only a custom station's creator can change its stream address.
- Small libraries sort the same as large ones.
- The HVSC status check no longer slows the server.
- Interface polish: track lists fit the window with working column resizing; Artists/Albums names line up with their heading; player-bar icons, header buttons and close buttons share one size; the waveform sits lower under the controls; EQ, Log and Settings controls match the theme; one clear button in search; full first rows in the sidebar; long playlist names stay on one line; no broken image for stations without art.

SoniqBoom v1.9.3
Galaxy view
- New in-view Galaxy | List toggle — switch between the animated format constellation and a sortable, searchable Format / Tracks / Share table (keyboard-navigable sorting, accessible row headers, live count).
- New Family filter — browse the library by format family (Trackers / Chiptune / Lossless / Lossy / Other), filtering both the galaxy and the list, with per-family track counts. Falls back to the list under reduced-motion or with visualizations off.
Visualizations
- The master and per-group visualization switches now take effect immediately and everywhere — turning them off hides or freezes the player-bar VU meter, full-screen visualizer, radio oscilloscope, track-info signal chain, and the Galaxy. Previously, disabling them could leave the VU meter and other surfaces running.
Formats
GET /api/library/formatsnow includes a coarse family for each format. Four Amiga formats that were not previously recognised (JamCracker, CustomMade, SIDMon 1.0, SIDMon 2.0) are now classified correctly.
Settings
- Scan ZIPs now takes effect on the next scan without a server restart.
- Use Folder Art changes now refresh covers live.
- Removed the Do not display empty folders toggle (it had no effect on indexed folders).
