SQL Server can be installed using Altiris or a similar software distribution tool.

In order to deploy with a tool such as Altiris, the DBA team must perform some tasks both before and after the Altiris job has been run.

Refer to the preparatory tasks and the residual interactive tasks for the type of install being performed.

The install media to be used for the install should be copied to the server on which the install is to be run. This may either be done manually before the Altiris process starts, or included in the Altairis processing.

The Altiris processing should allow for multiple reboots of the server during the SQL Server install. The account running the install should be logged on automatically after the reboot completes, and FineBuild will automatically resume processing.
