OpenScholarXIV v4.1.0
OpenScholarXIV v4.1.0
We've been hard at work to make OpenScholarXIV the best open-source research app there is. So without further ado here are some new features:
• The app now adopts Material You for a more personalized look and feel
• There's a new Paper Details page to give you more information about each paper.
• Within the Paper Details page you can click on the author names to search for more papers written by them
• We've also added Paper Notes, you can now write notes attached to any paper and browse them later in the Notes Page
• The long requested category browsing is also added, you can browse papers under the listed categories.
• Finally, your chat history now persists
Hope you enjoy using the app, keep giving us feedbacks and open issues on our GitHub.

Introducing OpenScholarXIV
We're excited to announce that we've taken ownership of the previously known open-source app ScholArxiv, now OpenScholarXIV, to actively update and maintain it! 🎉
We believe open source plays a vital role in research, and we want to make a committed impact by keeping this tool reliable, accessible, and useful for researchers, students, and curious readers.
OpenScholarXIV helps users find, read, bookmark, summarize, and discuss arXiv papers with AI. Our focus moving forward is to improve the app steadily, maintain the codebase, fix issues, refresh the experience, and build features that support focused research workflows.
The app launched two years ago, and maintenance has been stagnant for the past year. Nonetheless, it has gathered over 1.1k GitHub stars and continues to receive regular mentions from the research and open-source communities. That is why we’re stepping in to actively maintain and improve it.
We've started by
• Updating all project dependencies to the latest
• Fixing issues and bugs filed
• Adding categories into papers
• Adding a model selector
• and more UI polis
OpenScholarXIV deserves a stable future, and we want to keep building on the value it already created for researchers, students, and anyone exploring academic papers.
