Y2Linux 1.0 Beta 6.1: fixes for Beta 6. Linux 6.18 and the native Reborn music player for the Innioasis Y2.

Already running Y2Linux

Settings → About & Updates → Check for Updates → Download Update → Restart and Install.

Fixed

  • Bluetooth: no sound after pause and play. Beta 6 paused Bluetooth headphones with BlueALSA's own pause; the song continued, but headphones such as AirPods stayed silent. Pause now lets the last few milliseconds play out and Play restarts the stream, still without reopening the song.
  • "Couldn't complete that" when skipping. Next / Previous pressed while a song was still starting (about a second on Bluetooth) failed. Skips now move on at once and playback starts once on the song you land on; Play/Pause pauses.
  • SD card songs in the library twice (Y2Reborn #15). A library from an earlier image could keep the SD card under its old id as well: a second copy of every song that never plays. The first full scan of the card now removes that copy, and playlists find the copy that is on the player (Y2Reborn #14, thanks @samanz).
  • From a review of Beta 6: station logos that fail to load no longer keep the screen redrawing; playlist pages do less work per frame; playlists, favorites and logos are written the same safe way.

Everything from earlier betas (playlists, keyboard, search, Radio) is included.

Install (from stock)

You need SP Flash Tool v5.2032, a USB cable, Y2Linux-1.0.0-beta.6.1-first-install.zip below and the Innioasis Y2 firmware package v3.2.0 from Innioasis (also your way back to stock).

  1. Unpack both.
  2. SP Flash Tool → Download Only → load MT6582_Android_scatter.txt from the Y2Linux zip. Exactly BOOTIMG, RECOVERY, ANDROID and USRDATA are ticked.
  3. Click Download and connect the switched-off Y2; wait for the green tick.
  4. Unplug and press Power: Y2Linux and Reborn start, music works.
  5. Connect the Y2 to the computer and copy (don't move) system.img from the Innioasis package onto the Firmware drive. The player takes the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth firmware from it and turns the radios on.

Known issues (beta)

  • The Bluetooth pause and skipping fixes were built and tested on the computer; this is their first release on the player.
  • Jumping to a new place in a song still takes about a second on Bluetooth.
  • FM radio is planned for the next beta.
  • Battery life in sleep is not yet stock-like (about 9 mA vs stock 1.3 mA). The player cannot detect wired headphones yet.
