Difference between parameters 'keep alive' and 'sampling period'?

Hello,

I am not really sure what is the difference between 'keep alive' and 'sampling period' parameters. It is not clear to me in the description. Any one can help?

In my current configuration I have 'keep alive' 60 seconds and 'sampling period' 5 minutes, and it seems that the PWM output is updated each 5 minutes, and therefore the keep alive parameter is disregarded.
