Releases: SebaaMG/ns2jb-modloader

v0.3.2 — Broader firmware and exploit compatibility

Choose a tag to compare

@SebaaMG SebaaMG released this 04 Nov 18:13

Compatibility now depends on the required filesystem (FS) access and an ns2jb-compatible RPC session. SmileBASIC and firmware 23.0.1 are not fixed requirements.

Other exploit games or apps can work too when they provide that access and a compatible RPC session. The loader checks the FS functions it needs to load mods, instead of rejecting a session because its entire FS module differs from the one originally tested.

This update also handles partial memory reads and code split across adjacent memory regions, avoiding rejections of otherwise compatible sessions.

Installation stays the same: copy your mods using the sd-card-root/ layout, then run node load.cjs from ModLoader/ once FS and RPC are ready.

Plugins, cheats and overlays do not work yet.

v0.3.1 — ExeFS identity and IPS warnings

Choose a tag to compare

@SebaaMG SebaaMG released this 03 Nov 10:59

Fixes ExeFS validation for installed updates whose runtime Program ID differs from the base Title ID. The selected NCA and original NPDM must agree, and update metadata must link the program to the requested application.

  • Warns about IPS/IPS32 files that were not applied, including their paths.
  • Reports inaccessible titles encountered while searching for global IPS matches. Explicitly selected mod targets still stop on access failures, and incomplete capture cleanup stops installation.
  • Keeps the separate ModLoader/ and sd-card-root/ folders and the single node load.cjs command.

Tested from the downloaded ZIP on a real Switch 2:

Game Mods tested
Mario Party Superstars Monopoly Party RomFS and a complete ExeFS main replacement with a readback marker
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 13.0.5 The author's matching 21:9 Original Camera IPS
Mario Kart World 200cc and DK model RomFS, plus a complete ExeFS main replacement with a readback marker

The installer reached READY, verified 9 RomFS resources and 17 ExeFS files, and restored stock RO. After stopping the original Kurumuz host and closing SmileBASIC, all three games were opened consecutively without rebooting and their visible mods were confirmed. The release ZIP is the same artifact used for that test. The changes also passed 26 focused local checks; an earlier hardware run confirmed the warning for an unmatched IPS.

Known shutdown issue: The original Kurumuz host reported Fresh content differs after cache restoration during its final cache check. Its acquisition report confirmed cleanup completed with no remaining handles, threads or allocation, and all three modded games opened afterward in this test. The mismatch remains under investigation; it is not reported as fixed.

No game assets, firmware, keys or mods are included.

v0.3.0 — SD mod loading

@SebaaMG SebaaMG released this 03 Nov 09:24

Load RomFS and ExeFS mods by Title ID using your existing ns2jb FS 4/4 + RPC session.

  1. Copy the contents of sd-card-root/ to your SD card root, then add your mods under ns2jb-modloader/contents/<TITLE_ID>/.

  2. Keep the ns2jb host running. In another terminal, run:

    cd "/path/to/extracted/zip/ModLoader"
    node load.cjs
  3. Wait for READY, press Ctrl+C in the ns2jb host and let cleanup finish. Close SmileBASIC without rebooting, then open your games.

The ZIP separates the PC loader (ModLoader/) from the SD card files (sd-card-root/). Uses Node.js 22+, already required by ns2jb; no additional Python environment, Zig or binutils installation is needed to load mods.

See the included README for mod layouts and compatibility. No game assets, firmware, keys or mods are included.
