Panzer Dragoon Orta PC — v0.7.0 (beta)

A native Windows build of Panzer Dragoon Orta, recompiled from the original Xbox game. You need your own copy of the game (North American disc image, .iso).

Installing

• Download OrtaPC_Setup below and run it. It finds your disc image by itself (or press Disc image...), checks it, downloads its tools (about 300 MB), builds the game (20–30 minutes) and installs it where you choose.
• Works on Steam Deck / Proton.
• Setup now prepares the graphics shaders at the end, so the first start is quick instead of taking minutes.

New

• Launcher before the game starts: resolution (480 original by default, up to 4K or your screen's), fullscreen/window, widescreen, VSync, volume, music, sound effects and speakers. Hold Shift while starting the game to see it again.
• Separate Music and Sound effects volumes (0–200; 70 is the original mix, above 100 boosts), in the launcher and the F1 menu. Turning the master volume up no longer crackles.
• 5.1 surround output (Speakers = 5.1). Experimental.
• Data folder next to the game for the game's cache and compiled shaders, so it's easy to find. Delete Data\Cache and Data\shader_cache to give the game a fresh start.
• Session logs: session_log.txt (and the previous run's) next to the game, so crashes and hangs leave a report.

Fixes

• Freeze after the first boss (the picture froze while the sound carried on).
• Voices playing too fast.
• Much lower CPU use and smoother play, especially on weaker PCs.
• Faster loading of game files.

Known issues

• Music sometimes doesn't start, or stops, at the start of a level or after a berserk attack. Pause and unpause to bring it back.
• Short hitches when an episode or boss loads new files, worst on hard disks. A fix is in progress.
• Pandora's Box extras crash the game.
• Slow on low-end PCs (around 20 fps on older laptops).

Reporting problems

Please include session_log.txt and setup_log.txt from the game folder, say where in the game it happened, and add a screenshot if you can.
