"Add New Item" in Teams List Tab does not open SPFx Form Customizer

• Microsoft Teams version 24295.607.3241.5057. The client version is 49/24110115716. (The latest version)

Describe the bug / error

When adding a SharePoint List tab to Microsoft Teams, and clicking the default "Add new item" command nothing happens. It should open the SPFx form customizer form. It does not work in the Microsoft Teams app, it works when opening ms teams in the browser.

Steps to reproduce

1. I enabled SPFx Form Customizer to a SharePoint list:
   

2. Click on "Add new item":
   

3. Nothing happens

Expected behavior

The tab should be navigated to /_layouts/15/SPListForm.aspx when clicking on the native "Add new item" command in the MS Teams List Tab

I have checked the behavior on the mod tenant, and 'Add new item' works when opening Teams in the browser, but it is still not working in the MS Teams app.

@yur-st, My organization has the same issue that you are having, and we reached out to Microsoft Support about it. I urge you to do the same, but essentially what they told me was that for security reasons this feature was deprecated without any sort of notification for users or documentation, at least anywhere that I could find. Reach out to your own support engineers, as your circumstance may be different, but this is what I was told by the Teams engineering group at Microsoft:

Security restrictions between Teams and SharePoint currently prevent SPFx extensions from being activated within the Channel Files and Lists apps. For consistency, SPFx extensions are also disabled in Libraries and Lists pinned using the SharePoint app in Teams.

I was not given any answer as to whether this was a temporary or permanent change, but our support engineer used the word "deprecated", which makes me believe that they have no intention of re-enabling this feature, at least unless they receive a substantial amount of push-back from users.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. By following the Build your first Form customizer extension | Microsoft Learn documentation, we were able to test the scenario only in SharePoint.
However, we couldn't add .sppkg file in Teams, so we manually added list to teams. In that way "add new item" is working.
Can you please share the additional steps or existing code test?

I have a MS teams group Test2, and there is a site collection associated with this team.

My steps were as follows:

1. Uploaded *.sppkg file to SharePoint app catalog and added it to the site collection.
2. Set NewFormClientSideComponentId to the list's default content type.

3. Add this list as a tab to teams
4. when opening https://teams.microsoft.com/ in the browser, Add new item workes as expected. It opens a new window in a new browser tab. URL is /_layouts/15/SPListForm.aspx?...
5. However, when opening the MS Teams desktop app and clicking on Add new iterm there, nothing happens.

You mentioned, that "add new item" is working on your side. Does it opens form customizer page or sharepoint new item form? Also, have you checked on the Teams desktop app on Windows? I’m encountering an issue where it works fine in the browser, but nothing happens in the desktop app.
