Release list
v0.1.19
What's new
/mcpworks mid-turn. While the agent is working, the list still shows its own servers (from its config) with Authenticate available, and one line says Esc stops the turn. In 0.1.18 only the shared servers were listed then, which looked like the agent's own had gone.
Everything from v0.1.18 (MCP sign-in in the browser, box tables, quieter start, todo lists from every agent) is included.
Install or update: npm install -g codemax-cli or /update inside codemax.
v0.1.18
What's new
- MCP sign-in works.
/mcp→ Authenticate opens the server's OAuth page in your browser (Claude Code and Codex) and says "signed in" when done. Servers that offer a sign-in nobody asked for are mentioned once, in one line. - Transcript looks like Claude Code 2.1.304. Markdown tables draw as box tables; read/search runs show as a dim line with bold counts;
codespans in your own messages; agit diffprinted by a shell command no longer shows a phantom "No changes" file. - Quieter start. The session line names the model that answers; keep-awake says nothing unless it failed; one line for a self-approving mode.
- Todo lists from every agent. OpenCode's
todowriteand Cursor'supdateTodosnow land in the pinned task list instead of showing as tool rows.
Install or update: npm install -g codemax-cli or /update inside codemax.
v0.1.17
/mcp, like Claude Code's
- One row per MCP server with its status (connected with its tool count, failed with the reason, needs authentication, connecting, disabled) and where it comes from: the agent's own, or shared from another agent's setup.
- ↑↓ then Enter: Authenticate, Enable / Disable, Reconnect.
/mcp reconnect <server>works directly too. - Claude Code and Codex report status and take the actions over their protocols; for the other agents the servers codemax shares with them are listed, and can be turned off or reconnected per run.
- A Codex MCP server that fails to start now shows as a warning.
Handoffs
- Cursor's "Upgrade your plan to continue" mid-task now hands the request to the next agent (automatically, with that setting), and the work done before the notice is kept.
v0.1.16
Every agent gets the others' setup
- MCP servers, skills and plugin skills set up in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode or Gemini now load in every agent (each agent skips what it already loads itself). One line at start says what came from where. Cursor connects to shared servers before it starts, so it can take longer to come up.
Faster to use
- Ctrl+Enter sends your message now, ahead of the queue, interrupting the current turn. Alt+Enter where Ctrl+Enter can't be sent.
- Tab completes the highlighted
/command. Ctrl+T folds the task list; the spinner names the task in progress. /restartrestarts codemax into the same thread and agent.
Fewer surprises
- A question from an agent notifies you in any window, Warp included.
- Cursor's "Upgrade your plan to continue" (and payment errors in other agents) now trigger the handoff, keeping the work done before the notice.
- Cursor's modes are named right (it has no auto mode: agent / plan / ask).
- The "what's new" box after
/updatestays until 5 s after the agent is ready.
Under the hood
- npm installs always run on the Bun that ships with codemax (never one older than 1.3), and make it your global
bunif you have none. The installers update an old Bun. - The debug log records shortcuts, quits, lost keys and selection lag.
v0.1.15
Queued messages never get lost
- Messages and side-agent notes that arrive while codemax is busy, or while earlier messages are still being sent, now wait in the queue in order. A note arriving between two queued messages used to reach the agent as a second prompt at once, and one of them was lost.
- If a queued message fails, the rest are still sent. Messages queued during
/verifyare sent when the checks finish.
Faster and steadier
- Ctrl+C twice quits at once: the screen goes first, and agents get at most 1.2 s to close.
- codemax always runs on a current Bun. npm installs use the Bun that ships with codemax (never one older than 1.3), and link it as your
bunwhen you have none. The installers update an old Bun.
Nicer
- The start card says hello and shows one line of news. Notices sit under it.
- The "what's new" box stays 5 seconds after your agent is ready.
Debug log (on by default, never your chat)
- Records how each turn went (timings, tool counts, permissions, tokens) and how each agent started.
- Also records commands, settings changes, shortcuts, quits, memory, slow keys, lost keys and slow text selection.
v0.1.14
Smooth typing
- Typing stays smooth while an agent streams long code: code is highlighted in cached pieces, so a 1,500-line block no longer freezes the prompt.
- The
/and@filepickers stay fast in big projects (20,000 files: about 1 ms per key).
Debug log, to help us fix what you hit
- On by default. It records errors, crashes, freezes, agent messages codemax doesn't understand, and numbers for each turn (timings, tool counts, tokens).
- It never records your messages, the agents' replies or tool output. Error lines can name files or commands, so skim the file before sending.
/debug exportwrites one file to send us;/debug offturns it off.

v0.1.13
Pick your colours
- Colour themes: codemax (pink), Claude Code, Ocean, Teal, Mono. Choose in setup,
/config→ Colours, or/theme <name>.
See what your agents are doing
- Reads and searches fold into one live line ("Read 3 files, searched for 1 pattern"); the spinner names the current step.
- A short preview of each agent's reasoning.
- Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, Grok and Antigravity are asked to say what they're about to do and what they found, as Claude Code does (
/configto turn off). - Usage-limit warnings on the prompt's top border, as in Claude Code ("You've used 91% of your weekly limit · resets Fri 3:00 PM"), for Claude and Codex.
- Agent warnings (retries, model fallback, Codex config warnings) shown, no longer mixed into replies.
Usage you can trust
- Costs come from the agents' own figures: no re-counting after restarts, no double counting. Older usage logs overcounted Claude and are cleared once.
Smoother
codemax --resumeopens a full-screen thread list with search and preview.- The prompt stays usable while an agent asks permission; built-in commands run mid-turn; a digit answers only when alone.
- Shift+Tab reaches auto mode and each agent's own modes.
- A "what's new" box for 5 seconds after
/update; darker diff colours.
v0.1.12
Looks like Claude Code
- The prompt has grey lines above and below it, turning pink for
!shell commands; the❯is dim, with Claude Code's spacing. - The agent's plan is pinned above the prompt as a task list (✔ done, ◼ in progress, ◻ open). A finished plan leaves one line in the chat.
- Bottom line: the permission mode only when it isn't the default,
esc to interruptwhile working,? for shortcutswhen idle. - Reasoning sits behind Ctrl+O.
Antigravity
/modelshows the Claude and GPT-OSS models that only Antigravity's own app can use (greyed, with how to reach them).
33 bug fixes
- A message sent while an agent starts now waits for it.
- If Codex crashes, its pending requests fail instead of hanging.
- Crash-safe journal and state files.
- More AI vendors' API keys are kept from agents.
- Separate histories for folders named alike (my-app / my_app).
- Turns cut off by max_tokens are handed on as unfinished.
- Fewer false usage-limit handoffs.
/undowith non-ASCII file names.- Markdown and diff edge cases.
- Ctrl+C during setup.
v0.1.11
Install or update
npm install -g codemax-cliOr run /update inside codemax; it installs the new version and restarts by itself.
What's new
- The conversation looks like Claude Code's. One blank line between messages and steps, your messages on a grey band, tool names in bold, and results cut to 5 lines with
(ctrl+o to expand). File reads say "Read 42 lines" instead of dumping the file. - Real syntax colours in code blocks: Monokai on dark terminals and GitHub on light ones, the same colours Claude Code uses. There are no rules or labels around the code; only a language codemax can't colour is named.
- Diffs you can read at a glance. Each edit shows "Added 2 lines, removed 1 line", then the changed lines with their line numbers on full-width red and green bands. The exact words that changed are highlighted, and added lines keep their syntax colours. Permission prompts show the same diff.
- Markdown polish: inline code in lavender without backticks,
-bullets, clearer headings, and links you can click. - Ctrl+G (or
/editor) opens your message in your own editor ($EDITOR); what you save comes back into the prompt. /copycopies the last reply./exportsaves the conversation as Markdown.
Fixes
- Long names in menus such as
/configend with "…" instead of running into their values. - Tips no longer appear on the "working…" line above the prompt.
v0.1.10
Install or update
npm install -g codemax-cliOr run /update inside codemax; it installs the new version and restarts by itself.
What's new
/debate <goal>: let your agents argue out a plan before anything is built. Pick 2 or 3 debaters, each an agent on the model you choose (the same agent on two models works too). Each writes its own plan, then attacks the others', defends its own and revises. A judge merges the strongest parts and says how each disagreement was settled, and one Enter has your agent build it. Debaters can read the code but change nothing.- Choose the rounds per debate: 1, 2, 3, 5, or until the judge is satisfied, where the judge decides after each round whether one plan is clearly better and names what's still open (6 rounds at most).
- The picker shows how many turns the debate will use before it starts.
/config→ Debate rounds sets the default.
- Tips in the prompt. The empty prompt shows a different codemax feature after each message you send, with what to type and when it helps. There are 40, one for each feature, and ones your setup can't use are skipped. Turn them off in
/config→ Tips in the prompt.
Fixes
/awake onnow keeps the screen on too. Before, the Mac stayed awake but the screen saver and lock still came on, so it looked asleep. On Windows the screen stays on as well.- Typing always goes into the prompt, even after you click or select text elsewhere.
- Picking a file with
@could reopen the file list a moment later (most often on Windows).
