Beta 1.3

Install: download Setup.exe and run it (you need your own decrypted disc image; nothing from the game is included here). Already on Beta 1.1 or 1.2? Options > Recomp Options > Updates & Help installs it in seconds. Your save stays where it is (the savedata folder next to the game): updates never touch it.

Fixed

  • Crash after the first World Tours unlock: pressing a button on the new-car screen closed the game. With smooth menus on, the screen never noticed it was finished, kept drawing a course that had already been released, and released it a second time.
  • Narrator cut off while reading out the car names in machine select (smooth menus).
  • The version shown in bug reports could be out of date in builds made with build.ps1.

New

  • Save Data page (Options > Recomp Options > Save Data):
    • Export save writes a copy of your progress to a file you choose: a backup, or to take it to another PC.
    • Import save loads an exported save, or DATA.BIN from another copy of the port (for example an older install folder). Your current save is backed up to savedata\backups first, then the game restarts to load it. Encrypted saves from a real PSP or PPSSPP can't be imported yet.
    • Save folder opens the folder that holds your save and its backups.

Changed

  • Draw distance is now experimental and back to Original for everyone: with a higher setting some scenery is drawn wrong or in the wrong place. You can still turn it up in Recomp Options > Graphics; the game warns you first.

Known issues

  • Some scenery (cars, lights, palm trees) still switches to its detailed model late. Still being worked on.
  • Windows Defender may flag the game as a false positive because it is not code-signed. If it does, restore it from Protection history or exclude the game folder.

This is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Bandai Namco. All code was written by AI (Claude, by Anthropic); the project's owner directed and tested it.
