Beta 1.0
Ridge Racer (PSP) PC port: Beta 1
A native Windows port of Ridge Racer (PSP), made by statically recompiling the game's own code. No game files are included. Setup builds the port on your PC from your own copy of the game.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and a graphics card with OpenGL 3.3 or newer
- Your own decrypted disc image (
.iso) of the game, or itsPSP_GAMEfolder - A few GB of free disk space. The first build can take 20 minutes or more.
Install
- Download Setup.exe below and run it.
- Windows will probably warn about an unknown publisher, because the file isn't code-signed. Choose More info → Run anyway.
- Pick your disc image and an install folder, then wait for it to finish.
- Start the game from the shortcut. A settings window opens on the first start (hold Shift while starting to open it again).
This project does not provide, explain or link to any way of dumping or decrypting a game. That part is up to you.
What's in it
- Higher resolution, anti-aliasing and frame rates above the PSP's 60
- Online Wireless Battle with a server browser, room codes and passwords (up to 8 players; tested with up to 3)
- Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and most other controllers, with matching button pictures
- Full sound and music
- Built-in bug reports
Online play
Only players on the same game version can race each other. An older version will be told to download the newest one.
Something went wrong?
The game makes a bug report for you, a zip file on your Desktop:
- After a crash it is saved automatically.
- If something looks wrong while playing, press Ctrl+F12.
- If the game froze or won't start, open the settings window and click Bug report....
Then open an issue and attach the zip. Issues are public, and the zip can include folder paths with your Windows user name, so look inside it first if that matters to you.
Please read
- This is a beta. Expect rough edges. Known gaps: car LOD pop-in, some intro camera shots and Time Attack on some tracks.
- All of the code was written by AI (Claude, by Anthropic). The project owner directed and tested it.
- This is a hobby project and is not actively maintained. Pull requests will most likely not be reviewed. Forks are welcome under the GPL v2 or later.
- This is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Bandai Namco. Ridge Racer is a trademark of its owner.
