Sooo, if I get a node/server all set up the way I like on this alpha version, will I need to wipe it clean and start over when the official version comes out? Or is it upgradeable in-place?
For that matter, will older 3.5 versions be able to upgrade in-place to 4.0?

You can just update as new versions are released. 035 servers will be able to update as well.

Is there a current route/method for upgrading 035 to 040 alpha as of now? Apologies if I missed the documentation for in-place alpha upgrading.

You can update by flashing your existing server with the latest alpha. At this point it's considered for developers and testers only, so be careful

For those like me who think "flashing your existing server" means a clean install, what Matt apparently means is to use the option when booting from the latest alpha start9.iso to

select "Recover", and use your existing drive or "Transfer". I ran into errors when I tried this.

However I was referring to this feature...

Which apparently is not an option :-(

Is there any way you can make the DATUM package available in the alpha registry as a (Legacy) version?
I'd like to continue my mining operations with this setup.

I'm not a dev. Logged in just to ask this question—what are the major updates/changes in StartOS 0.4.0 compared to the latest stable release, 0.3.5.1? I don't have a Start9 device (yet) mostly because I want to have speedy remote access (Tor is bleh). Will version 0.4.0 enable owners to access their personal StartOS servers over clearnet, remotely, using a personal VPN or something like that?

Also, will 0.4.0 be released before Christmas? I'm considering getting a Start9 device for my brother(s) as a gift.

040 will offer multiple remote connection options besides Tor, including private VPN and full blown clearnet. Yes, absolutely before Chirstmas, it's already testing very well. We are making some changes based on user feedback, then will go to public beta.

Just downloaded the alpha Raspberry Pi image and the SHA-256 checksums do not match.
Reason I am considering the alpha release is that the latest release will not boot from SD on a Pi 5...... kinda sucks this is still not supported after all this time...
