StinkSNIFFER v0.5.2

Sniffy's completion bubble now includes a clickable channel handle and a clearly labelled YouTube: @TheStinkWind link with a small pixel play logo. Both open the exact channel only when clicked. The link stays inside his dialogue instead of appearing as a separate button below completion.

Source-read warnings remain visible. Existing preferences, history and the smaller tray icon are retained.

A new UPLOAD TO YOUTUBE button sits beside Open Folder and Play in VLC after a completed export. It opens YouTube's upload page in your browser. Sign in if prompted, then choose your saved MP4.

Download StinkSNIFFER-v0.5.2-Windows.zip under Assets, extract it and run StinkSNIFFER.exe. Keep _internal beside the EXE. Source code downloads are for developers.

Download for Windows

Under Assets below, download StinkSNIFFER-v0.4.2-Windows.zip.

  1. Extract the ZIP to a folder of your choice.
  2. Open the StinkSNIFFER folder.
  3. Run StinkSNIFFER.exe. Keep _internal beside the EXE.

This is a portable Windows app; no Python, separate FFmpeg installation or account is needed. The “Source code” ZIP/TAR downloads are for developers, not the runnable app.

What it does

Enter a Kick username or M3U8 link, inspect the stream, pick its native quality and save locally as MP4. Exports default to Videos\StinkSNIFFER. Options changes the folder and sound preferences. Transparency starts fully opaque and remembers your preference.

v0.4.2

  • Removed unnecessary metadata from the bundled capture music.
  • Removed the background GIF's black matte so the skull blends into the panel without a rectangular border.
  • Public commit identities use GitHub's private email address.
  • Includes refreshed history thumbnails and the larger pulsing transparency eye from v0.4.1.

StinkSNIFFER-v0.4.2-SHA256.txt contains the ZIP checksum for optional download verification.

StinkSNIFFER v0.4.1

  • History selections clear the previous preview immediately and fetch the selected stream's thumbnail again.
  • Newly saved history retains the original thumbnail address, while older entries still refresh a frame from the selected HLS stream.
  • Missing thumbnails show an unavailable state rather than retaining another stream's picture.
  • Larger pixel eye with a stronger brightness pulse beside the transparency slider.

Extract the ZIP and run StinkSNIFFER.exe with _internal beside it. Saved settings and history are preserved.

  • Pulsing pixel eye identifies the transparency control; fresh installs start fully opaque.
  • Clear button resets the loaded source while retaining history and preferences.
  • Sniffy has dedicated space above storage details, with persistent speech and an idle bounce/new remark after ten seconds when export is ready.
  • Soft local startup, shutdown, speech and error sounds.
  • SAVE plays GLITCH LAUGH audio first, followed by capture music; export begins immediately.
  • Shared, remembered mute covers all audio, accessible in Options and during capture.

Download and extract the ZIP, then run StinkSNIFFER.exe. Keep _internal beside it.
Updating preserves your chosen transparency and other saved settings.

  • New looping RGB skull watermark, following shell transparency.
  • Transparency slider in the main status row; 0–100%, default opaque.
  • Taller window with SAVE, storage checks and progress outside the scrolling preview.
  • Sniffy follows the active control and capture stage, with ten randomized export remarks.
  • Matching transparent, static Sniffy icons for the executable and system tray.
  • Five recent streams stored locally by title, with fresh link inspection and expiry guidance.
  • Clean source and preview on every launch; preferences and history remain saved.

Native HLS stream-copy exports, bounded retries and disk-space protection remain in place.

@StinkWind StinkWind released this 07 Oct 14:35

StinkSNIFFER v0.2.0 — Meet Sniffy

  • Added a persistent 0–100% transparency slider in Options. Default 0 is fully opaque; the shell and silent looping watermark fade together while controls and Sniffy stay readable.
  • Moved SNIFF inside the source bar and removed its separate row. Window dimensions remain unchanged.
  • Added Sniffy, a floating animated skull with transparent background, first-launch instructions, occasional paperclip jokes, and Show tips / Hide Sniffy controls.
  • Saving starts soft background music at 10% volume, once per capture. Mute/unmute sits at the bottom of the progress section and is remembered. Completion, cancellation, and errors stop playback.
  • MP4 filenames now use 💀StreamerName_YYYY-MM-DD💀.mp4, based on the VOD live date. Duplicate names add _2, _3, etc. before the closing skull.
  • Direct M3U8 sources with missing streamer/date metadata ask for those details before SAVE becomes available.
  • Launch update checks now default to StinkWind/StinkSNIFFER. Updates show release notes and open the release download page after confirmation.
  • Existing bounded HLS retries, stream-copy exports, source-warning completion states, diagnostics, and storage checks are retained.

Windows 10/11, portable: extract the ZIP and run StinkSNIFFER.exe. Keep _internal beside the executable. No Python or FFmpeg installation required.

Validated: native-rendition HLS export with a temporary HTTP 503, Unicode/duplicate filenames, storage gates, onboarding/mute persistence, transparency controls, and packaged video/GIF/music decoding. Full multi-hour capture validation remains an ongoing real-world check.
