I am requesting support for the Alienware x16 laptop.
Device ID: VID_187C/PID_0551
Symptoms: The device is detected as "Alienware AW-ELC", but it shows "0 lights".

I have already checked for active background processes (AWCC is closed), and I tried manual mapping, but no lights are detected/assignable. It seems the controller communication is not fully supported for this specific PID.

No, 551 chip is widely used and supported.
Yes, it will have 0 lights until you map it manually (i don't have a scheme for x16 AFAIR).

Did you check all 256 IDs? Sometimes, lights hide even after 100... In case you are, check settings - you may have lights off or dimmed at max; in this case it will stay black even if you found it.

Hi T-Troll, I have completed a full manual scan of the 999 IDs for my Alienware x16 (PID 0551).

I found that the keyboard lighting currently responds in 4 zone groups, but the addressing appears to be mirrored/redundant. For example, IDs 0, 255, 512, and 768 all control the exact same zone.

The pattern I found is:

Zone 1: 0, 255, 512, 768 (all trigger the same area)

Zone 2: 1, 256, 513, 769 (all trigger the same area)

Zone 3: 2, 257, 514, 770 (all trigger the same area)

Zone 4: 3, 258, 515, 771 (all trigger the same area)

Since the device is marketed as 'per-key' RGB, is this mirrored addressing a limitation of the current firmware, or is it possible to map these properly to unlock individual key control? Any guidance on how to enable full per-key support would be appreciated."I have the suspect my Keyboard is not per-key RGB but work for 4 zones.Anyway strange fact i can't see as well the grid as virtual Keyboard maybe some file/drive are corrupt.I cannot list or name every single key on the keyboard, possibly because it features 4-zone lighting... The grid image shown in the guide differs from what I see... To be more precise, it appears completely distorted, as if viewed from above at 100x magnification... It fails to display the individual keys... I am unsure whether this is normal behavior or a software bug... When I launched the program for the first time, the individual keys were clearly visible.
