PackScope v1.0.4

Choose a tag to compare

@TheRepairforge TheRepairforge released this 22 Oct 08:41

Added

14.4 V LXT packs (BL14xx), read-only. These 4-cell packs answer like an 18 V pack but report a fifth cell at 0 V, so a healthy pack used to read as a broken sense wire. A pack whose model starts with BL14 is now read as 4 cells (cells, spread and verdict on four). The unlock is not offered on these packs: a charger lock shows as LOCKED with the reason. A pack whose model can't be read is still treated as 5 cells. (PocketOBI #28)

Changed

Repair wizard, older (F0513) packs. The unlock step now shows an amber caveat when the pack was read through the F0513 cell path: the unlock is not validated on this generation, and the pack may still read as locked afterwards. The Unlock button stays available, so you can still try.

Fixed

Unlock commands are sent once. After a lost reply, the serial link no longer resends a write, so a write can't be applied twice.

Goes with PocketOBI v2.5.1.

Standalone Windows / Linux / macOS builds are attached below.

Added

Help translate PackScope. German and Spanish are first drafts that no native speaker has checked yet. The review pages on https://therepairforge.github.io/translate/ show the screens in your language and open a "Translation fix" issue already filled in. Details in docs/TRANSLATING.md.

Changed

The README now uses the verdict words the app and PocketOBI show on screen: HEALTHY / UNLOCK / POSSIBLE HW FIX / HARDWARE FIX.

No change to the app's behaviour.

Standalone Windows / Linux / macOS builds are attached below.

v1.0.2

@TheRepairforge TheRepairforge released this 18 Sep 08:39

Fixed

False "suspect hardware" verdict on healthy BL1850B packs.

In lockstep with firmware v2.1.1: the D6 marker this relied on for a "latched fault" turned out to be a constant that these packs always carry, not a stored fault — so balanced, unlocked, working BL1850B packs were being flagged SUSPECT ("possible HW fix").

The marker no longer affects the verdict. A genuinely locked pack is still detected by its charger lock, and the raw marker bytes are kept for reference only.

Reported via #13.

Standalone Windows / Linux / macOS builds are attached below.

PackScope v1.0.1

Fixed

  • False "latched fault" over the USB bridge. On some packs (notably older BL1830s), PackScope read the extended BMS data over the bridge as noise and wrongly reported a perfectly healthy pack as having a latched hardware fault ("possible HW fix"). PackScope now trusts that extended block only when the pack genuinely answers it; otherwise it shows "—" and computes the verdict from the cell and temperature data, matching what the PocketOBI device itself reports with the bridge off.

Bug fix for PocketOBI issue #13, reported by @wedgehog2. Thanks Bob!
