What is happening?

How can I make the notifications on the TV stay on indefinitely? According to the documentation, I should set it to 0, but in my case it disappears in 4 seconds, even if I set it to 0.

Tweak Position, Duration (0 = don’t auto-dismiss), Color, and Transparency.

Hey, so that's a mistake in the documentation.
That was the original plan, but it was scrapped (and I missed it in the docs) due to 2 reasons:

1. I did not see any reason for it
2. Users could actually trigger a notification and not know how to close it, since it doesn't require buttons - which will cause it to stay as an overlay indefinitely.

Due to the complications in implementing it, I decided to scrap it.
I recommend that if you want a notification that lasts forever, then just restart it every X seconds it disappears. I will update the docs to reflect that.

P.S - I wonder, what is your use case for it?

I want to keep the dismiss button so I can manually clear the notification and be sure the action has been completed (emptying the washing machine, for example). If I just set a timer, I risk missing the notification if I'm not in front of the TV. (I'm between my kitchen and the living room where the TV is). I can work around this by setting a timer of 20,000 seconds. Is there a maximum value?

IIRC the maximum is 300 seconds.
But if I understand you correctly, you have a template boolean entity that you toggle when clicking on the notification's button, correct?
If so, it doesn't really matter what you choose- make sure it repeats every 300 seconds and then only when you click in it it'll trigger the action you want.
