vkBasalt Manager (v1.3.0)
vkBasalt Manager — Decky Loader Plugin (v1.3.0)
✨ Added
- Profiles: create as many named configurations as you want! Each profile has its own shader toggles, built-in effect sliders, and toggle key. The "Copy launch option" button adapts automatically:
ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 %command%for the Default profile, orVKBASALT_CONFIG_FILE="..." ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 %command%for a named one (vkBasalt's native per-config mechanism) - 5 more external shaders with sliders: Border, ColorMatrix, Clarity, Monochrome, and DPX join the 13 already adjustable — 18 external shaders total now expose their most impactful parameter (or two, for GaussianBlur/FakeHDR/Vignette) directly in the Quick Access Menu
- Collapsible sections: Built-in Effects and the three external categories (Light/Medium/Heavy) are now toggle buttons with a small squared +/− indicator, collapsed by default — much less scrolling to reach what you actually want to change
- Reset All Effects to Default button (Settings, marked with a red
⚠️ ): resets the active profile's shader toggles and built-in effect sliders, and also resets every external shader's parameter(s) back to their coded default directly in the.fxfile. Note the split scope: toggles/built-in sliders reset only the active profile, while external shader parameters reset globally across all profiles, since those values live in the shared.fxfile rather than in a per-profile config - Default value shown on every slider: each of the 22 adjustable parameters (4 built-in + 18 external) now displays its min–max range and default value under its name
🎨 Changed
- Category color squares replaced with colored text: shader names and section headers are now tinted (green/orange/red/blue) directly, no separate swatch
- Removed the visual separators between Profiles / Built-in Effects / External Shaders / Settings for a more compact, continuous layout
- Unified font size (13px) across every label, shader name, section header, and button in the plugin
- The "Copy launch option" button wraps and shrinks its text instead of overflowing the panel width
🐛 Fixed
- Profile selection silently reverting to Default: the dropdown-based selector could revert to the first entry after picking another profile. Replaced with a button-per-profile list (the same reliable pattern already used for Install/Uninstall/Create/Delete elsewhere in the plugin)
- Broken launch command for profile names containing spaces: the
VKBASALT_CONFIG_FILEpath is now quoted - TypeScript build warning: removed a
placeholderprop that isn't part ofTextFieldPropsin@decky/ui

vkBasalt Manager (v1.2.0)
vkBasalt Manager — Decky Loader Plugin (v1.2.0)
✨ Added
- Parameter sliders for 13 external shaders: 4xBRZ, Cartoon, Curves, FakeHDR, FilmicAnamorphSharpen, GaussianBlur, LumaSharpen, Sepia, SmartVibrance, Technicolor, Technicolor2, Vibrance, and Vignette now expose their key numeric settings as sliders, right under their toggle in the Quick Access Menu. Unlike the built-in effects, these values are read from and written directly to the shader's
.fxfile (that's where ReShade shaders keep their defaults), using a small hand-picked list rather than a generic parser — kept deliberately simple to stay easy to maintain - Colored category headers: "Light Effects", "Medium Effects", and "Heavy Effects" section titles are now tinted to match their square indicator (green/orange/red) instead of plain white text
🗑️ Removed
- Nine shaders were dropped from the bundle after review to keep the list focused on effects that add clear value: FilmGrain, FilmGrain2, HighPassSharpen, HSLShift, Levels, LevelsPlus, LiftGammaGain, SmartSharp, and Colourfulness
🧹 Internal
- Full integrity pass across the codebase: verified Python syntax, ran static analysis for unused imports/dead code, cross-checked every backend method against its frontend call site, and confirmed the shipped ZIP matches the source files exactly
📦 Installation
Same as before — download vkbasalt-manager.zip below, then in Gaming Mode: Quick Access Menu → Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File.

vkBasalt Manager (v1.1.0)
vkBasalt Manager — Decky Loader Plugin (v1.1.0)
✨ Added
- 27 new external ReShade shaders with dedicated names, categories, and descriptions: 4xBRZ, AdaptiveSharpen, Border, Cartoon, Clarity, ColorMatrix, Comic, CRT, Curves, Daltonize, Defring, DPX, FakeHDR, FilmicAnamorphSharpen, FilmicPass, GaussianBlur, HQ4X, LumaSharpen, Monochrome, Nostalgia, Sepia, SmartVibrance, Technicolor, Technicolor2, Tonemap, Vibrance, Vignette
- Automatic depth capture:
depthCapturein vkBasalt's config now toggles on/off by itself depending on whether a depth-dependent shader (Comic, FilmicAnamorphSharpen) is active — no manual setting to remember - Category grouping for external shaders: split into 🟩 Light, 🟧 Medium, 🟥 Heavy sections (color-matched headers), each sorted alphabetically
🎨 Changed
- Category indicators switched from round dots to colored squares (🟦🟩🟧🟥) throughout the UI
- "Toggle key" setting redesigned as a full-width field, consistent with the other buttons in Settings
- "Copy ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 %command%" now shows a green checkmark on success instead of text feedback
🐛 Fixed
- Case-insensitive shader file matching: multi-word shader filenames (e.g.
AdaptiveSharpen.fx) previously failed to be written intovkBasalt.confdue to a naive capitalization guess; the plugin now matches filenames properly regardless of case - Clipboard copy reliability: added a fallback to the legacy
execCommand("copy")method, since the modern Clipboard API is often blocked in Steam's embedded browser context - AUR mirror requests: added a browser-like User-Agent to
curl/wgetcalls to avoid being blocked by anti-bot mirror rules OPENSSL_x.x.x not founderrors: the Decky backend's PyInstaller-bundled libraries were leaking into subprocess calls (curl/wget/tar);LD_LIBRARY_PATHis now stripped before running them
🗑️ Removed
- Global activation mode: the plugin no longer offers a toggle between global and per-game activation — it's per-game only now (
ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 %command%), which is safer and more predictable. Existing installs that were set to global mode are migrated automatically on first load. - Per-shader external parameter editing: dropped for simplicity; edit a shader's
.fxfile directly if you need to change its defaults - "Copy DISABLE_VKBASALT=1" button: removed as redundant now that global mode is gone
- A few shaders were dropped from the bundle after review: FineSharp (multiple techniques in one file, unsupported by vkBasalt), FilmGrain, FilmGrain2, HighPassSharpen, HSLShift, Levels, LevelsPlus, LiftGammaGain, SmartSharp, Colourfulness, SuperEagle
📦 Installation
Same as before — download vkbasalt-manager.zip below, then in Gaming Mode: Quick Access Menu → Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File.

vkBasalt Manager (v1.0.0)
vkBasalt Manager — Decky Loader Plugin (v1.0.0)
First release of vkBasalt Manager as a native Decky Loader plugin — manage vkBasalt entirely from the Quick Access Menu, no terminal or Desktop Mode required.
✨ Features
- One-click install/uninstall of vkBasalt (64 and 32-bit) from the Chaotic-AUR mirror, plus the bundled ReShade shaders
- Built-in effects (CAS, FXAA, SMAA, DLS) with toggle switches and live parameter sliders
- External ReShade shaders — any
.fxfile dropped into~/.config/reshade/Shadersshows up automatically - Configurable toggle key (default:
Home) - Per-game activation — copy
ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 %command%to clipboard in one tap, paste into a game's launch options
📦 Installation
- Download
vkbasalt-manager.zipbelow - In Gaming Mode: Quick Access Menu → Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File
- Select the downloaded ZIP
- Open the Quick Access Menu, find vkBasalt Manager, and install vkBasalt from there
See the README for full usage, effect list, and troubleshooting.
⚠️ Known limitations
- Profiles, diagnostics, and import/export from the original bash script aren't included — this release focuses on the core install/configure workflow, better suited to the Quick Access Menu format
- External shader parameters aren't editable from the plugin UI; edit the
.fxfile directly if you need to change one
